GERI (GERALDINE ELIZABETH BAILEY) OLADUWA, of Atlanta, Georgia, transitioned from this life December 5, 2020, surrounded and supported by her loving family. She was 75-years old. Born December 22, 1944, in New York City, she was the only child born to Edna Bailey and Richard Wheeler. Her foster parent Otilia Mullen's daughter, Mary, was Geri's sister, and Mayr's son James her nephew. She married Omowalé-Kétu Oladuwa in 1972 and they remained together until 1988. Geri never remarried. Geri graduated Dominican Commercial High School, and St. John's University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught English and Literature in the Ocean Hill Brownsville district of the New York City public schools. She earned a Master of Arts, Legal Studies from Antioch University. A master teacher, Geri left the classroom to pursue other opportunities in the not-for-profit sector doing groundbreaking work with youth in Newburgh, NY as an executive assistant at the Coalition for People's Rights, and as a Program Director at Orange County Community College. Geri founded a college introduction program at the Fort Wayne, IN, Urban League that facilitated college visits and enrollment for underserved students. Geri retired as an executive assistant at Morehouse College. During her work with institutions of higher education, Geri brought institutional resources to benefit collaborations with community businesses and agencies. A smart and avid shopper, Geri was able to find real deals on high end merchandise for herself, family and friends but, her children and grandchildren were her passion. Surviving Geri are her son Onaje Iyapo-Ekundayo Oladuwa, daughter Naimah Mashallah Oladuwa-Frame, son-in-law Oman Frame, granddaughters Suriyah Ngozi Oladuwa Frame, and Uchenna Sanaa Oladuwa Frame, and a host of other family members and friends.
. A memorial service will be held via Zoom on Geri's birthday, December 22, 7:00 pm EST.
